He compared features, price, after-sale-service and customer reviews etc. to make an informed choice as per his needs. After selecting the oven, he checked that it should have an ISI mark. This gave him confidence about the safety, standards and quality of the oven. After reaching home he followed the manufacturer’s instructions for safe installation and use of microwave oven. This helped him in avoiding any risk associated with the usage of microwave oven. By doing all this Aman kept in mind various responsibilities while purchasing and using the microwave oven. Aman fulfilled several responsibilities as a consumer, such as comparing different brands, checking the ISI mark, and following the manufacturer’s instructions. However, he missed some important responsibilities. Three such responsibilities are:
- Obtaining a Proper Bill or Receipt – Aman should have taken a valid bill or receipt for the microwave oven. This serves as proof of purchase and is essential for warranty claims, exchanges, or refunds if needed.
- Reading the Warranty Terms – He should have carefully read and understood the warranty and guarantee terms provided by the manufacturer. This would help him in case of product defects or repairs within the warranty period.
- Being Aware of Consumer Rights and Complaint Mechanisms – Aman should have been aware of his consumer rights and the process to file a complaint if the product turned out to be defective or if he faced issues with after-sales service. He could have checked if the manufacturer had a customer support system for addressing grievances.
By fulfilling these additional responsibilities, Aman would have ensured a more secure and informed purchase.
